“Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.”
Isaiah 54:2
A tent is a dwelling place, or a place of residency. Paralleled spiritually, reading this should urge us to enlarge our Christian “tent” — to cover more territory, or to reach more people for the Gospel. For a tent to stand, it has cords outstretched from every corner tethered to stakes rooted in the ground. Roots dug deeper and cords stretched further can help a tent withstand larger storms.
So, what exactly is our “tent”? And how do we enlarge it? Simply put, our tent could be considered any of the physical location(s) God has placed us in geographically — whether that be our nation, state, city, or even more specifically: our school or workplace. In this chapter, Isaiah is speaking to the future glory of Zion and proclaiming promises for God’s people. As residents of Florida, let us cover our state in prayer today.
