DAY 7 – 2 Timothy 3:12

Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

2 Timothy 3:12

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world”. JAMES 1:27

Not every nation has the same freedoms that Americans are blessed with, and if we’re not careful, it’s easy to take things (like our freedom of religion) for granted. This verse in 2 Timothy can seem discouraging at first glance, guaranteeing that Christianity is accompanied with persecution. However, rather than discouraging us from walking in relationship with God, knowing this should encourage us to trust Him even more in the midst of our walk.

Christians in other parts of the world may experience this differently than we do, but no matter where we live, there will always be some level of pushback attached to our faith. Why? Because the enemy knows the greatness within us and will forever try to do anything within his power to stop us from fulfilling our call(s).

Today, let us first pray for religious freedom both in our nation and in our world. Pray for God to protect our American rights to worship; pray for God to open up doors for ministry all across the globe. And then, because we have the freedom, let us take action! Let us do what James speaks of by living pure and faultless lives. Who are the orphans and widows in your life?
