DAY 17 – Romans 13:4

“For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.”

Romans 13:4

“God’s servant for your good.” Meditate on that for a second. To be a servant means to perform duties for others. The world tells us that those in authority are to be served (which is true), but God often uses Scripture to flip the narrative. This verse reminds us that true leaders serve their people, for their good (meaning, they have the people’s best intentions in mind).

The greatest way we can serve our elected officials is not through our complaints or posting propaganda to social media, but through prayer. Today, let us cover God’s agents in prayer.
