Ok, I’m In – Day 8 – Joshua 2

Day Eight – Written by Pastor Ashley Hawks-VanEst

Biblical Example: Rahab (Joshua 2)

Prayer Focus: Healthcare Workers & First Responders

Heroes in the Bible are intimidating! Their phenomenal feats and resounding successes seem unattainable today. Heroes such as Noah, Moses, David can make us feel inadequate and unworthy. … but Rahab reminds us that way of thinking simply isn’t true.

Rahab was…for lack of a better term… a “woman of the night”. She was living in Jericho. To give you some context, Joshua ( leader of the Israelites) had sent spies to scope out the city. These two spies were discovered and were on-the-run when they ran into Rahab. They needed help and Rahab didn’t hesitate! Her quick actions said “Ok. I’m in.”

Not only did Rahab hide the spies, but she also helped them escape! In response, her life was not just spared, but so were the lives of her family! Her quick, “I’m in” response saved her and her loved ones! She may have had a bad reputation, but God’s reputation in her pagan land had prepped her heart, so when the opportunity for her to respond finally came along, she was ready.

When Rahab said “yes” to helping the spies, she was saying “I’m in,” to God! Her life was redeemed and her reputation was restored. She married an Israelite and became part of the lineage of Jesus! Yes, you read that right! Rahab, the prostitute, became an ancestor of Jesus!

It goes to show you how one, “I’m in,” can change EVERYTHING! Your own personal, “I’m in,” can not only save your life, but the lives of your family and many others as well! Ask God what He specifically has for you to do! Tell God that no matter what He has for you, you are in! Pray for a heart that is quick to respond, and while you’re at it, cover our first responders and healthcare workers in prayer today too. More than anyone, those in this line of work have live an “I’m in,” mentality!
